Kyrpton (Kr) is a colourless, odourless, chemically inert noble rare gas. It is a by-product from the air separation process in the air separation unit (ASU) where oxygen and nitrogen are produced in large volumes. In the lighting industry, Krypton is used as a filling gas in incandescent filament and fluorescent light bulbs to improve brightness and lifespan of the light bulbs. Krypton is widely used to manufacture environmental insulation products; for instance, It is used in the window manufacturing process to improve thermal and sound insulation because Krypton has very low thermal conductivity compared to that of air.
